Lama Walli took refuge with Kalu Rinpoche in India in 1974. She practised under the guidance of Tenga Rinpoche for a year, after which she was guided in retreat by Gendün Rinpoche from 1981 to 1996.
Since 1997, she has been living at Dhagpo Dedröl Ling, a lay retreat centre in Marfond, Dordogne, France, which she co-founded and helped direct. She continues to supervise individual and group retreats there to this day.
Since 2001, she has regularly travelled with her husband, Lama Chris, to European centres of the Karma Kagyu lineage.
Lama Chris has been living at Dhagpo Dedröl Ling in Marfond since 2001, where he spent many years in retreat under Lama Walli's guidance. In 2009, Künzig Shamar Rinpoche appointed him as a Dharma instructor for his Bodhi Path organisation, and he later became a lama in the Dhagpo Mandala. Since then, he has divided his time between six-monthly periods of retreat and activity.
