Baltic sea retreat course “Wisdom and Compassion”
May 5 - May 13
Dear Dharma friends,
We are pleased to announce a retreat course in 2018 in northern Germany with Lama Walli and Lama Chris.
During these days they will give teachings on the following topics:
As for the first part of developing wisdom (from Sat May 5th 2018 – Wed May 9th 2018) we will focus on how to deal in a healthy way with emotions based on the teachings given by the 9th Karmapa in the „Mahamudra – Ocean of True Meaning“.
In the second part (evening of May 9th– May 13th) we will start with the transmission of the Lojong Mind Training. This profound path teaches us to understand the selfless nature of mind by means of developing loving kindness and compassion.
Buddhism considers wisdom and compassion as an inseparable unity. However, in order to develop these qualities in ourselves we have to first train in each of these two aspects separately.
During the second part of the week, we will turn to mind training in order to strengthen loving kindness and compassion. Here, the practice of „giving and taking“ (Tonglen) is pivotal. Furthermore, we will train in the view of the Bodhisattvas by using contemplations which help us to sustain loving-kindness and compassion in daily life.
Since this is a retreat course, we ask you to kindly stay on site for the entire duration of the course.
For those who cannot participate during the entire retreat, but wish to meet or visit Lama Walli and Lama Chris, there are two occasions:
Saturday May 5th4 p.m. (Introductory lecture)
Sunday May 13th 9:30 a.m. (Praxis of Milarepa)
For organizational reasons we are asking you to announce your visit in advance by e-mail and not to pass by spontaneously in order to not interrupt the retreat.
The course will be held in German with translation into English. The course will take place near Flensburg at the shore of the Baltic Sea.
