Lama Walli has practiced for fifteen years in retreat under the guidance of the great master Gendün Rinpoche. In 1986 he entrusted her with the responsibilities of a lama and since that time she has accompanied students who practice in retreat.
In 1996 Gendün Rinpoche initiated a retreat center for lay people in the Dordogne, France and she takes part in its guidance. At the centre she assists practitioners in their development, mainly within a framework of shorter and longer individual practice periods or in Three Year Retreats.
Her husband Chris is practicing under her guidance in retreat since 2001 and is himself a teacher in the Dhagpo Mandala. Shamar Rinpoche also appointed him as a Dharma instructor for his Bodhi Path organization.
A good half of the year they still devote themselves to meditation practice in retreat while the rest of their time they are holding retreat courses at various European centers of the Karma Kagyu Lineage that are under the authority of the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje and Shamar Rinpoche.
During these courses formal meditation sessions alternate with instructions on fundamental Buddhist topics like the development of mindfulness and loving-kindness & compassion.
